The Matrix Was One Of The Best Movies Of The 90s

Released at the back end of the nineties The Matrix was one of the movies that changed the way movies were made. The cast included stars such as Keano Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Lawrence Fishbourne. The first in a trilogy, it started the journey of Neo, who was prophesized to end the war with the machines.

An idea of the Wachowski brothers, the film proved them with great wealth and greater acclaim. The idea for the movie however did take many years to become reality with the film being pitched to many companies until it was picked up by Warner.

The film is set in the future at a time where Humans are losing the war against machines. The matrix is a concept born of the machines that enabled them to control humans from their birth enabling the machines to use them as a source of power, like a rechargeable battery.

However there are a group of humans who have been able to break free of the computer program and their goal is to free as many people as they can from the illusion the machines place before them. Through their own technological inventions they are able to hack into virtual world and alter things within it.

As mentioned the plot follows a character called Neo, a person who has been trapped inside the Matrix. Neo leads a normal life within the computer world working for a reputable software company whilst selling illegal hacking programs on the side. In the matrix there are stories of what it actually is and Neo is intreged by them following one transgressions of one of the leaders Morpheus.

Little does Neo know but Morpheus has been looking for him, Morpheus sets Neo free from the computer world in which he has lived his life and informs him of his destiny.

Morpheus later tells Neo that he believes he is ‘the one’, the one that will save the human race from the machines and stop the machines once and for all. The film then center’s on the journey of Neo of fulfilling his destiny, which starts with him being beaten up by Morpheus in a training program and falling off a high rise building when trying to learn how to break the code of the program.

As is common place with many people who the rebels believe are ‘the one’ they are sent to see the Oracle, who informs Neo that Morpheus will die because of his belief in Neo and that he is not the one. Neo proceeds to save Morpheus and at that point they both start to begin to believe that he truly is the one.

After saving Morpheus, they return to their exit point only to be confronted by ‘Agents’ these are computer programs within the system designed to find any rebel humans and kill them. A battle ensues and Agent Smith kills Neo. Trinity declares that Neo can’t die because she loves him. Neo′s heart starts beating and he rises, confronts Smith and destroys him. From that moment on Neo sees the matrix in code form and is able to start fully utilizing the abilities he has as the one.
