Some Of The Most Well Behaved Big Dogs

These days, dogs are more popular than ever. While you see small white fluffy dogs popping up all over town, large dogs still remain man’s best friend. There are many different types of large dogs, and depending on the qualities you are looking for in a pet, you may want to consider a larger sized animal.

Here is my list of some of the best larger breeds of dogs to add as a member of your family.

The first dog that I fell in love with was my first German Shepherd, Lulu. Lulu lived to be 15 years old, which is considered quite old for this breed. A German Shepherd is a great family dog, as they are loving and protective.

Another dog that I had as a child was a Golden Retriever. These dogs can range in size, but there is a reason they are such a popular option for families all over the world. They are incredibly fun, loving animals and are very intelligent.

The Bull Mastiff is another dog, which I have a special love for. This is a dog that you should only be considering if you have a large home, as these dogs are usually between 160 and 200 pounds! Sure. they can be messy, but are also incredibly loving animals.

Outside the realm of common canines is the Dogue De Bordeaux. I grew up with one of these animals, which can also be described as a French mastiff. If you have ever seen the movie Turner and Hooch, then you know what a Dogue De Bordeaux looks like.

If you are looking for an intelligent guard dog, it is hard to find a better option than a Doberman Pincher. These are strong, muscular animals that are very energetic and need to get their exercise, so only consider this canine if you have the time to put in.

These are just some of the great breeds of larger sized canines, and if you are looking to get a dog for the family, hopefully now you know you are not just limited to dogs that fit in a purse.
