Classic Scenario: First time date, you think it is going really well. You follow all of the dating ‘rules’ you have come to know but lo and behold a day goes by, another days go by, weeks go by, and you never hear from your date again. This scenario is so common as people do not realize that the dating rules have changed, and there may be some sort of miscommunication. Let us take a look at those dating myths that could possibly leave you dateless.
Myth: Talking about yourself is automatically taken as selfish and narcissistic.
Reality: Talking about yourself non stop, not including them into the conversation, and going on and on is a problem, but opening up a bit so that they can get to know you is no problem.
It is all about balancing the conversation. Ask questions about them, so they can see your interest as well as explain about yourself as well. Sharing shows that you are an open person who is looking for intimacy, while asking about them shows you are genuinely interested. As long as you maintain a balance between talking about you and the other person, the date should go smoothly.
Myth: Being friends fist will give you a better dating foundation.
Reality: this isn′t always true. Sometimes being friends first created a casual atmosphere that makes it harder to transfer the relationship over to more than friends. The sparks, and budding romance sometimes are lost when someone has been a friend with them for a while.
Myth: Ordering a salad shows the other person that you are health and weight conscious.
Reality: If you love a good salad, go for it! If not, don′t pretend to be someone you are not. Order what you want to order, show the real you.
Also, keep in mind that if you are picky about what you order, it will come off as fussy and picky and you don′t want to appear that way. Come across as confident in yourself, and order what you feel like eating.
