5 Reasons Why We Love Majorca Holidays

Sun, sea, sand – Majorca has everything. Since cheap holidays were introduced, going to the largest of the Balearic Islands has been a popular past-time for many sun-seeking Brits.

An estimated 10 million people travel to Majorca every single year, showing how this fantastic Spanish getaway isn’t going to lose its popularity in the UK holiday industry any time soon.

1) It’s just a short flight away. Depending on where you fly from in the UK, the flight time to Majorca can be as short as 2 hours. Flights depart from most airports across Britain, so you can usually leave a time and date to suit you.

2) The warm temperatures. During the summer months temperatures usually settle at a balmy 24 Celsius, but can sometimes top 30 in July and August. In fact, the island experiences warm weather between May and October, and even the winter months only fall as low as 10 Celsius, meaning Majorca is a pleasant destination to visit all year long.

3) Lovely beaches. The sea and sand is always going to be the main reason why people return again and again for Majorca holidays. Possibly the nicest stretch of beach on the island is located in Alcudia. Here, over nine kilometres of white sand stretches out as far as the eye can see, with shallow water washing up around your heels. The beaches on the island range from large, open bays to smaller, more private coves.

4) The cuisine. There is a huge variety of food on offer when you visit Majorca. If you are brave enough to try local dishes such as traditional seafood Paella, it is worth making a trip to the capital Palma, or even in land to the less touristy spots. Alternatively, if you enjoy something a bit less adventurous, all of the large resorts offer fantastic meals from around the world. There are even famous fast food restaurants in some towns if you’re really missing your home comforts.

5) There’s something for everyone. Majorca really does have something to keep anyone busy. If you enjoy your lazy days and long, party-filled nights then Magaluf or Palma Nova will be for you. If you’re looking for a more relaxing break, try Puerto Pollensa on the north coast, or even Illetas, a quiet resort overlooking Palma Bay.
